Before the Dehydration
This 17th century listed cottage situated in the Conservation Area of the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty had problems with rising damp for many years. One of its main walls, due to its extreme salt content, has been constantly crumbling resulting in quite substantial building fabric loss.
The Aquapol system - Results
As part of our on-going follow-up program we have performed moisture measurements 6 months later. The moisture content of the walls has reduced throughout. The moisture content of the stone has reduced by about 50%, and the salty mortar also became drier. According to the cottage owners, Peter and Barbara, the crumbling has also diminished.
